Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced Crew Attire Guide

Crew attire in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a cosmetic customization feature changed at any Harbormaster or captain's cabin ship model. These outfits alter your sailing crew appearance without modifying ship combat attributes or crew defense statistics.

As detailed on the official Steam store page, the open-world seafaring focuses heavily on building your pirate reputation:

"Strike fear in your foes as you board and sink enemy vessels as Edward Kenway, captain of the Jackdaw." — the Steam store page

Outfitting your sailors with distinct uniforms or transforming them into an undead boarding party gives your ship a unique flavor across naval battles and boarding actions.

How Do You Change Crew Attire on the Jackdaw?

The ship appearance menu is the interface used to equip crew outfits and naval customizations. You can modify your crew's uniform whenever you dock at a friendly port or while roaming aboard the Jackdaw.

  1. Approach any Harbormaster vendor across ports such as Great Inagua, Havana, or Nassau, or enter the captain's cabin on the Jackdaw.
  2. Select Upgrade Ship when speaking with a Harbormaster, or interact directly with the miniature wooden ship model sitting on the right side of the desk in the captain's quarters.
  3. Switch over to the Appearance tab (accessible by pressing R2 on controllers).
  4. Scroll down past sails, figureheads, and wheels to the Crew category.
  5. Select your unlocked crew attire and confirm the equip prompt to refresh the look of every sailor on deck.

Changing crew clothing has zero effect on combat statistics or health bars. If you want practical combat boosts for boarding actions, upgrade your Great Inagua hideout brothel to increase your crew's boarding melee damage, or equip best trinkets that assist Edward during deck fights.

Which Crew Attire Sets Are Available in the Game?

Crew attires are collectible ship vanity skins that alter the visual presentation of Edward Kenway's sailors. According to Vulkk's cosmetic catalog, several distinct crew appearances can be collected through hidden merchants, story contracts, and world exploration.

None of these items alter sailing speeds or hull resistance, so you can pair them freely with functional jackdaw upgrades and decorative ship skins.

How Do You Get the Skeleton Crew?

The Deceased Crew Attire is a legendary cosmetic that transforms every sailor on the Jackdaw into an animated skeleton. This look does not require completing special main-story synchronizations; it requires trading with an unlisted merchant in the open ocean.

To locate the vendor, sail your ship to the small, unmarked island situated south of Andreas Island in the western Gibara seas, near coordinates 550, 638 (or 549, 639). When you pull ashore near the rising smoke, you will find an unlisted general store vendor standing on the beach. He sells rare goods, including the Deceased Crew Attire, for a flat price of 206 Animal Bones.

Gathering 206 bones can be achieved through two separate methods:

  • Hunting Wildlife: Land animals drop Animal Bones when killed and skinned. Species including wild pigs, crocodiles, jaguars, deer, hutia, and monkeys have chances to drop bones upon harvest. Equipping the Exotic Sea Shells trinket, located in an alley chest in Havana at coordinates 214, 568, doubles animal material yields. Upgrading the Great Inagua Fisherman's Wharf also doubles resources obtained from harpooning sea creatures.
  • Purchasing from the Treasure Dealer: You can buy bones directly from the Treasure Dealer at your Great Inagua hideout once unlocked through the Former Glories quest in sequence 4. The dealer sells Animal Bones for 1,000 Reales each. As detailed in the Rock Paper Shotgun walkthrough, buying all 206 bones requires 206,000 Reales if you carry zero bones in your bag. The vendor inventory only displays as many bones as you can currently afford, updating dynamically as your wallet grows.

Once you purchase the attire from the unmarked island vendor, return to any Harbormaster or your ship's cabin to equip the skin.

Where Do You Find Other Crew Vanity Sets?

Additional crew appearances are tied to exploration activities, fleet operations, and naval missions across the Caribbean.

The Sleek Crew Attire equips your deckhands with emerald-green vests and matching trousers. You acquire it through the Restored Tattered Map. Obtaining this map requires collecting three Tattered Map Pieces by disabling and boarding Hunter Frigates or Hunter Man-o'-Wars, which spawn once your Wanted Level reaches tiers 3 and 4. After boarding, choose the Captain's Lockbox option. Deliver three pieces to the Great Inagua Treasure Dealer along with 300 Sugar and 500 Reales to restore the map. Inspecting the codex reveals buried coordinates at 381, 803 in Florida, where digging up the chest awards the Sleek Crew Attire alongside the Gilt Lined Sails and Elite Wheel.

The Handsome Devils Crew Attire provides a vibrant uniform awarded for finishing all 15 naval contracts. You begin these contracts by talking to Milo van der Graaff at Great Inagua after completing the This Old Cove mission. Milo provides personal contracts, while ten local contractors wait near regional Harbormasters. Finishing the final contract delivers the Handsome Devils Crew Attire and the legendary Black Skull Sails.

Players tracking broader secrets and special maps can pair these crew customizations with items gathered from regional treasure maps to complete their preferred pirate presentation.
